The following points guide assessment of manuscripts:
Argument/purpose
- A point of view is presented, using a process of reasoning supported by evidence.
- Logical reasoning leading to hypothesis or statement of opinion
- Impartiality
- Objectivity through balanced discussion of a range of views.
Accuracy
- Attention to detail in English useage, punctuation and grammar
- Use of appropriate, politically correct terminology
- Attention to detail in formation of references, bibliography and in text use of these, as per the proscribed format for the journal.
Approach
- Logical sequence of information and ideas
- Clarity of writing, avoiding ambiguity.
- Conciseness of information without loss of meaning, no unnecessary repetition.
- Direct, clear and simple form of expression.
- Where appropriate, use of structure that includes an introduction, background, aims and purpose (or the study, argument or inquiry, as well as the presented paper), results, discussion (which is referenced to current understanding of the topic), limitations (where appropriate), implications for practice, and a reference list.
Language
- Avoidance of jargon and unfamiliar technical terms, colloquialisms or slang.
- Avoidance of contractions.
- Appropriate use of person (first, third), voice (active, middle or passive) and tense (future, present continuous, past).

Acknowledgment
a) Acknowledgement of existing knowledge
- Any statements/assertions must be supported by existing evidence, where appropriate, and correct references included.
- Work of others referenced in text. Direct quotations are enclosed in quotation marks or written in italics, paraphrased quotations are credited. Referencing style conforms to journal specifications (see Information for authors).
b) Acknowledgement of contribution of others
Where any assistance has been given, including funding, or any other type of help to complete either the work presented or the manuscript itself, this must be included.
c) Acknowledgement of contributions to a presented manuscript
Each manuscript must contain, after its title page and before the body of writing begins, the following list of declarations:
- Competing interests (have the authors any interest that would bias the publishing of this paper?)
- Funding (list any funding from which this paper is an outcome)
- Ethical approval (for research, has this been given, and supply reference number of the approval)
- Guarantor (the main author who will retain responsibility for the content and publication of the paper, and will be the point of contact for the editorial team)
- Contributorship (list the contributions of all the authors, eg, conceptualization of the study, finding funding, main composition of the manuscript, etc).
- Acknowledgements (any other contribution toward the development of the work, and dedication to those whom the authors wish to recognise in a particular way)
Papers will not be sent for review unless this section is completed by the authors.
